my buddy garrett

So I called my sister the other night and much to my surprise Olivia (6yrs.) answered the phone. Boy, is she all grown up on the phone. Since Elizabeth was sick she didn't want to talk on the phone so Olivia proceeded to seek out the kids in the house to talk to me instead. She handed the phone over to Garrett. Here's how our conversation went.

garrett: hi, emmy

me: hey buddy!

we talked about school, american idol and of course how his brother Ryan broke his skateboard...see my sister's blog for that story. Then our conversation changed to church.

garrett: did you go to church today?

me: yep, did you?

garrett: what's the name of your church?

me: it's called storyline.

garrett: storyline church?

me: yep, what's the name of your church?

garrett: sunday school church

We talked for a while before my sister finally took the phone. He is such a riot on the phone and in person. Love you lots little guy!

fun times with dad

Elle loves hanging out with daddy!

sleeping beauty

Our little girl is growing so fast she has moved out of the bassinet in our room and has graduated to her crib! The bassinet is a family herilom, each of my siblings and I slept in it when we were just babes. Now our babe is too big for it! Awww. But this means she is sleeping through the night. As soon as I post this she will probably change her mind! Let's hope not.

She looks so small in her big crib compared to her bassinet. Thanks Grampie for the cool crib!

Elle's first photo shoot- 2 months

Elle had her first photo shoot at 2 months. She looks so different from her hospital pictures. She has changed so much and continues to grow more and more each week. I can't believe it has already been 2 months. Here are a few of our favorites.

aunt anna

Aunt Anna came to visit from TN. We had a fun time hanging out together and we're looking forward to a spring trip down south for Easter. Elle will meet her Uncle Bryan for the first time. Even though Bryan did ask if we could leave her at home, seriously Bryan how could you leave this sweet thing at home?? Hopefully, Lisa (Bryan's mom) will get her baby fix with Elle. Bryan is a little worried that this might encourage his mom's need for grandkids. What can I say...you can't beat a grandma who's ready!
I can't wait to meet you Uncle Bryan, and I'll try to sleep through the night for you while I'm there...but no promises- love Elle :)

happy 27th...

thank you josh, elle, and tackle for an awesome 27th birthday!

josh surprised me with 2 dozen roses, a night of bowling with friends, and a fun night out with him and elle. elle and i visited my classroom for lunch with the kiddos. they were excited to see me and elle and even made cards for me for my birthday. they have a countdown going until i get back, only 4 more weeks. i can't believe it!

when elle and i got back home from our trip to school i found 2 dozen roses on the counter. at first i thought i totally missed them in the morning, but quickly realized josh had stopped by while i was gone...what a great husband. he always thinks of the sweetest things. he also gave me an awesome photography book...watch out the pictures coming will be like a professional, ok probably not for a while but anyway, i'm getting there!

our weekend away

elle and i spent the weekend at home in Ionia with my parents, sister and her kids since josh was gone skiing with his dad in Utah. we had a great time playin' with grampie and grammie and all of elle's crazy cousins. here is our top 10 list of things we did this weekend:

10. watching cousin garrett attempt to play basketball...keep growing buddy!
9. meeting baby goats - 2 weeks old!
8. watching cousin olivia, garrett and ryan teach me how to play with toys.
7. visiting grammie's 2nd grade classroom, boy those kids are bigger than me!
6. going to my first purse party!!
5. snuggling with my grammie and grampie
4. visiting grammie's good friends: charlene and sally (mommy's old piano teacher)
3. taking cousin olivia to kindergarten
2. going to my first book fair with grammie
1. listening to daddy voice on the phone

so the purse party was from the company a la mode purses, you get to design your own purse. it was pretty cool, but overwhelming to choose between hundreds of different options. elle designed her own bath bag!! i know what 2 month old needs her own bath bag??

i met up with some old high school friends, kaycie and holli. we use to run xcountry together and now we're all moms. we had a lot of fun catching up and reliving old times. both live in the country and have small little farms started...kaycie has several horses and holli now raises goats and chickens. elle got to meet 2 week old goats, how cool!

my nephew garrett was a great help this weekend. he babysat elle for almost 40min. while i took olivia to kindergarten. he loved laying with her on the floor and talking to her. what a sweetheart!

fashionable niece

so my 6 year old niece decided to take up the art of blogging. that's right she's created her own blog. check out her blog by clicking on her picture. she named the blog herself, and it sure does fit her. i can't believe how much she's grown in the last few years. i still remember going to see her just after she was born. now she's in school, reading chapter books, writing her own stories and creating her own blog. boy do these kids grow up fast!

Olivia through the years...

tiny cries

elle had her first of many "shots" today. her tiny cries weren't so tiny after the first shot. but she was a trooper and took them like a big girl. poor little girl! you can't help but feel sorry for them when they give the little bottom lip quiver, gets you ever time. thank goodness for children's tylenol, she slept for 2hrs. straight. that never happens during the day! since she was sleeping so peacefully i could get a massage. we both had a relaxing evening.

TGIF!!

It was the perfect day for a run/walk with auntie martha...or as josh likes to call auntie cliff. cliff? i know, so here's how he came up with the nickname. so my full name is emily elizabeth, haha...like the friend to clifford. so since martha and i are friends he figured she's like clifford the big red dog, which then got shortened to just cliff. gotta love whitey, he thinks of the funniest things. always keeps us on our toes.

So cliff, the boys, elle and i headed out for a jaunt around the neighborhood. shoot forgot to take a picture of us all in the strollers. we were quite the scene running ok actually jogging down the road. mind you stevensville finds it better NOT to have sidewalks, why- not sure? so the cars that don't move over, thanks for putting our babes at risk. so we pulled over into many driveways to escape danger on our run/walk. well, just a few. we actually found a quiet neighborhood with little traffic. but still what town DOESN'T have sidewalks? seriously!

Now that I am at home and seem to have plenty of time on my hands, in between feedings and keeping the house clean. (Now that I am at home, seems like I am suppose to do that! haha..) I have decided that I would love to take up my joy of photography as a hobby. Martha has a friend that does it as a business and has a pretty sweet blog. So I have taken a few ideas from her and tried to capture them in our own life happenings. We'll see where this takes me, if I didn't work at all...I think I could actually make a go of it. But someone has to support us, especially when whitey goes back to school. So here are a few shots that I have been playing with.

School? Yep, that's right Whitey is off to the big campus of Notre Dame. We're becoming IRISH, we don't really like green b/c that means MSU so we like to think of ND as more like blue and gold, staying more true to our first love of UofM. Starting in June Whitey aka daddy is off to school for a year. He's getting is MBA, we are so proud of him, but we are going to miss him a ton as he will be locking himself away in the basement to study. Ahhh, the days of studying together at Heckman Library. If you're not from West Michigan, that's Calvin's library. Ok, actually we only studied there our Sophmore year and then moved off campus and it became our bedrooms of Panera. None the less we actually did STUDY, and no it was off to the 5th floor corner. Although, we heard that was good place to study too. :)

WOW.. this was long post for the day. Must of had too much time on my hands. Perhaps I should use some of that time to actually take a shower before Josh gets home. :)

Chicago Shower

Elle visited THE BIG CITY this weekend for a special White Family Shower. Gram, Great Aunt Sue, and Aunt Anna put the spread out for little Elle. She had a great time visiting with great grandmas, great aunts, great-great aunts, aunts, and cousins. So many people to love and spoil her on both sides of the fam.

Check out the Hershey bars: they actual say "Here She Is"...ahh, get it. It took me a while to figure it out. The back is so cute, shoot didn't take a picture of that. Anyway it gives the nutritional facts of Elle, like birthday, weight, length and the ingredients are sugar and spice and everything nice. Super cute Aunt Anna and Sue. (Thanks Uncle Bryan for helping too.- oh, can't wait to meet you soon)

We're all showered out! THANK YOU to everyone who threw miss elle a shower. She is so blessed to have so many people who love her. We are so grateful to all of you.
