what a way to start the holiday season with being thankful

o christmas tree

the christmas season officials starts once the christmas tree is picked, cut, and lit up

in traditional fashion we headed out to the tree farm the weekend of thanksgiving

if you haven't seen chevy chase christmas vacation, you're missing out!

for those of you who have, you'll understand when i say we wait for the {perfect} tree to light up and the chorus to start signing before we make our final cut.

this year the picking was a little slim

but we found our {perfect} one- minus the singing {accept from josh}

taking a ride with dad...while we're still looking for the right tree

24 days to christmas countdown

so during one of the many nights up late feeding beckett i was perusing through different DIY blogs and found this cute baby sock christmas countdown

so each sock is a day leading up to christmas

they are filled with little treats or presents

each night ellington gets to take a sock down and find the special surprise

ellington loves to do EVERYTHING i'm doing

so of course if i'm cleaning the counters, table, or even the floors she has to help

who knew a wipe could bring such enjoyment for a little kid

sisters will...

sisters will lay on with you on your play mat and hold your hand

sisters will teach you patty cake

sisters will {shove} a paci in your mouth, whether you're crying or not

sisters will share their blankie and then ask for it back

sisters will call you "baby" most of the time or "brudder"

sisters will...eventually love that you join in the chasing of tackle

brothers will...

brothers will endure their older sister until they can move or scream

brothers will sleep through their sisters {loud} talking

brothers will let their older sister hold them

brothers will...eventually cause trouble for their sisters

what will the future bring for these two?

growing up with a sister and two brothers i can't wait to see how their relationship unfolds. they will be the best and worst of friends at times

but hopefully they will always show each other LOVE

grams and pappa stopped by for bath and storytime before they headed out of town for thanksgiving. ellington is very thankful for both her grammies and grampie/ pappa. she loves all the attention they give her and now they have 2 to try to entertain during storytime.

this night she decided to call pappa in and throw a bucket of water at him

she actually had a good aim :)

she makes us laugh and wonder HOW does she know that...all the time!

beckett i'm sure will pick up on the fun soon enough,but for now he's content to just be held

what's there to do in the kitchen for a 2 year old while mom's cleaning the cabinets and other parts of the house

clean the dishes...of course

ellington is a little "mini me" she has to be near you at all times and try EVERYTHING you're doing. she is my little helper around the house. she even did a pretty good job taking down the fall decorations and helped carry up the winter tubs. let the decorating begin!

all i want for christmas...

ellington has been enjoying all the toy magazines laying around the house these days. i'm not sure she realizes what's coming but loves looking intently at all the toy options. she has quickly picked up on the things she'd like.

so in case you're wondering what she's been eyeing...here's her list:

this brings back the good ol' days of circling and creating our wish list from the

GIANT toys r'us christmas catalog.

i love the holidays

all the traditions, family time, and yes the chaos of it all

so here's to the start of the holiday season...bring it on i say

and here's to ellington getting just a few of the things she wants a budget is for sure in order this year as i would love to get her {and beckett} everything i'd want as a kid

i'm not the only one, josh has already eyed all the lego sets {beckett} needs.

1 month

1 month old already

eating every 2-3 hours

napping in between for 1-2 hours

a few 4-5 hour stretches at night

loves white noise..i.e. water running

has his own itouch...yes i know that's absurd but when the white noise on it gets him to sleep you don't care what it seems like, plus it will make for a great story when he's older

likes to sleep on his tummy

his eyes are starting to turn dark blue

has uncle mark's hair line - might not be good in the future! (sorry buddy)

all around he's a great baby now that we've figured him out (at least for now)

elle is loving being a big sister and often asks to hold him

what's a little girl to do while her doggy is eating?

join him of course

it's been ellington's favorite thing to feed tackle breakfast and dinner

she actually does a great job of carrying the cup of food from the garage to the dog bowl and dumps it in, without losing too many along the way.

recently she's decided to join tackle in his dinner time. surprisingly tackle still eats with her face next to his. most dogs get annoyed by that, but i'm pretty sure tackle just cares about eating. we have found ellington taking tackle's food out of the bowl and tasting it for herself. gross, right? actually i can't blame her, i remember doing the same as a kid. unfortunately, i have to admit that i was quite a bit older than her {like grade school age}...embarrassing now, but i was curious how it tasted. needless to say i only did once, unlike ellington...who continues to try it.
