hola...from mazatlan

hola!
what a great start to our summer vacation...laying on the beach in mexico
we had a great time sharing the experience with ellington and josh's family. surprisingly elle did a great job being stretched to the limit each day with a different time zone, nap schedule and of course the flight. she was a trooper and had so much fun.

here's a few pictures of our trip. hoping to put more on when we get the new computer later this weekend. (belated mother's day gift...thank you josh!)

taking in the sights along the pacific coast...surfers were out later in the week with the huge waves

we ventured out to the local aquarium with ellington one day. she loved seeing all the "fishy"
little did we know that it was field trip day for probably ever school in the area and of course we were the only americans. therefore we didn't understand a word of the sea lion show!

we spent a day in old mazatlan...full of history and culture.
the market was packed and we found some good bargains, josh liked bargaining the price...good job honey!

thank you to gramps and gram for taking ellington for a night so we could enjoy a night out on the town. we had dinner at this cute mexican restaurant, great food and awesome service. they made fresh salsa in front of us. the culture is to take your time, something we quickly learned to appreciate as we could just sit talk and eat without feeling rushed by the waiter. after dinner we walked through the square and then hit the grocery store..always a fun adventure.

the best transporation were these open air taxis called "polumia" elle loved NOT being buckled up and always took in the sights along the way.

of course the best activity of the day was splashing in the pool. ellington became quite the little fish while we were there. later in the week she realized that she could dunk herself underwater and pop back up...so of course that's what she did every chance she got.

the waves were amazing the whole time. it was surprising how loud they could get. josh, his dad, anna and bryan usually played in the waves daily. elle a few times, she didn't mind it until she got salt water in her eyes and i ventured in once...which was just enough for me. not a huge fan of the ocean...don't like NOT knowing what's around me or coming for me!! :) josh was the only one to be stung by a jellyfish 4 times, don't know how he managed that but that pretty much sealed my deal of going out in the waves for very long.

thank you white family for a wonderful trip
we look forward to more family vacations in the future
